My name is Marci, and I am a spouse of a sleepwalker/talker. Fortunately, this does not occur every night, but when it does, it is pretty funny afterwards (at the time, not so much because it disturbs my beauty sleep) ;)
I wish that I would have thought of this sooner, because there are many funny stories that have already happened. I’ll go ahead and relay some of those to you.
One night after I had reorganized our bedroom, I wake up to see my husband get up and walk over to our closet (which did not have a door of any kind). Curious, I continued to watch him, wondering what in the heck he was doing. He proceeded to pick up a crate of some odds and ends and place it on the floor. When I inquired what he was doing, his response was, “I’m helping this lady up the stairs.” He then turned back to the closet. I feared he was going to destroy my organization, so I had to coax him back into bed.
Another time, not too long ago, I awoke because he had thrown all of the blankets on top of me, I looked over and he was standing on our bed (our bed was also against a wall on his side – that is what has to happen in a small apartment) and he is against the wall with his arms out to the side, the way you see in the movies when they sneak along a wall in an alley or something. I asked him what he was doing and he assured me that he was just moving out of “this guy’s” way. I am pretty sure that I would know if someone other than my husband was in my bedroom in the middle of the night. He looked so funny, I just had to laugh.
More recently, I was awakened from my quiet slumber to hear my husband ask me, “Are you dreaming of me, because I am dreaming of you.” As cute as that was to hear, I knew that he had to be asleep.
Sometimes I am not sure whether he is asleep or not. Asking him doesn’t do any good because whether he is or not, the answer is always “Yes I am awake.”
He goes to the bathroom, gets a drink of water, and a myriad of other things, while asleep and it isn’t until the next morning and I ask him about it that I find out he was really asleep.
Sometimes I wake up to find him leaning over me just looking at me. It happened one time after we had only been married a short while. I think he is very fortunate that I didn’t freak out. I laid there, very still and asked him if he was ok. He said that he was, but that he was worried about me. I had to assure him I was fine before he would go back to bed.
It can sometimes be an adventure going to sleep at our house. I never know what will happen in the middle of the night.
I hope that you enjoy these stories and feel free to share similar stories with me as well. Good night!
This will be epic. Can't wait to hear the stories. :-)
